British football fans will be able to see the Champions League and the Premier League in ultra-high resolution picture quality as early as August.
In the United Kingdom, football lovers can count themselves lucky: BT Sport is launching a new channel that will offer sports broadcasts in particularly high picture quality. To be more precise: the first European television station in the 4K standard. It will go on air in August under the title BT Sport Ultra HD. Among other things, Premier League, FA Cup and Premiership Rugby matches will be shown there. It will also broadcast the Champions League, in which BT Sports recently acquired the rights.
The company will also launch a new channel, BT Sport Europe, which will feature all major European football matches, including the Europa League. This channel will be free, while BT’s broadband customers will be able to watch BT Sport 1, Sport 2 and ESPN free for another year. On free-to-air TV, however, BT only shows a total of twelve Champions League matches and fourteen Europa League matches per season. BT Sport Showcase will be launched especially for this purpose.
