Unlocator Review
Unlocator is a Smart DNS service operated by Linkwork ApS, a Danish IT business based in Copenhagen. Unlocator was officially launched in 2013 and has already grown into one of the best-known Smart DNS services on the market, allowing users to unblock geo-restricted media content.
By utilising Unlocator’s version of Smart DNS, customers are able to bypass regional restrictions on services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Hulu, circumvent sports blackouts, access media when travelling abroad, and do so on multiple different devices. All of this can be achieved without having to install any software.
How It Works
Similar to VPN technology, Smart DNS services work by hiding a user’s true location, tricking websites and online services into thinking they are in another part of the world. To do this, a user’s DNS queries are re-routed through the Unlocator servers. Internet speeds are not affected, although unlike with a VPN, data is not encrypted.
Smart DNS works by only re-routing visits to websites the service offers support for. This means that if a customer visits a supported streaming website, their DNS queries will be automatically re-routed, but when they later go to use unrelated services like internet banking or social media sites, it is completely unaffected.
Pricing and Payment Methods
Unlocator’s monthly package is available at a cost of $4.95, which is a competitive price. Savings can be made on long-term subscriptions, with the 6 month package costing $27.50 (7% off) and the 12 month package coming to $49.95 (16% off). All packages offer the full service and subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.
A free 7-day trial is available, offering potential customers the opportunity to sample the full product before subscribing. The trial is available with no obligation to subscribe and no credit card information needs to be supplied in order to access it. Unlocator also offers a 14-day money back guarantee for unsatisfied users.
In terms of payment options, customers have a choice of paying via Visa, MasterCard or PayPal, which is a slightly limited range of options, but should be sufficient for the vast majority of people.
Compatibility
One of the major strengths of Smart DNS technology is its compatibility. Due to the fact that software is not required, the service can be used on a wide range of different devices and operating systems and the setup process is relatively simple. Customer Support
The main Unlocator website contains a comprehensive support page, which offers setup guides, troubleshooting articles and tips, while also answering frequently asked questions. This provides support for most of the common issues users are likely to encounter and should be consulted before direct contact is made.
If, however, a customer needs to get in direct contact with the support team, a variety of options are available, including email or contact through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. A mailing address for Linkwork ApS is provided, although telephone support, Skype support or online live chat support are not currently offered.

I tried Unlocator and Iam quite happy with it, everything worked out of the box and I was able to watch my favorite Stream abroad where I wasn’t able to watch it without SmartDNS.
I’ll see how it works in different countries as Iam travelling much and will now hopefully and finally be able to watch everything without problems 🙂
I took the paid subscription, to watch netflix from Canada in the middle east. It works ok from home but when traveling and in hotels, it does not function. When I have asked the support to assist, they either do not reply or cannot solve the issue.
If there is another option out there…please let me know.
thx

Hello,
I’m enjoying…thank you.
For Peter Barrett..You have to sign in to your Unlocator account and update your IP.
@Peter Barrett
the problem might be with the hotel WiFi, if their connection is too slow or used by too many guests at the same time, you might experience these issues because of that overused internet connection, not because the unlocator smart dns service is not working.
Streaming usually needs a good bandwith to work, even without smart dns or vpn in between.
Unlocator is the best 15 bucks you will spend if your a person who is looking to get around blackouts. I have bought it because we cut cable and I still wanted to watch my home baseball and hockey team. After buying mlb and nhl package, I then followed all the directions unlocator provided and it works wonderfully. A+++.
I have tried to access the service with the 7 Day free trial offer – but, it still asks me to make a payment despite saying no credit card will be required.
I dont know if this is a glitch or sharp marketing practice.
But it appears the offer is not valid. Beware.

Continues to be a pain in the A$$. Works OK for sometimes a few days…..then absolutely nothing works.
Got less than a weeks programs this past week, and UNABLE TO VIEW US TV SOURCES, which I can log into with paid subscriptions, because I’m ‘out of the US’.
Unlocator is supposed to be a reliable work around. IT IS NOT. I have spent as much time without services and emailing back and forth as I have viewing what I have paid for.
Sending ANOTHER EMAIL COMPLAINT TO THEM FOLLOWING THIS REVIEW.
I will also be researching other options, as they are PROVING TO BE TO UNRELIABLE to the point of worthless.
Even trying to post this ‘Review’, and submitting on their site generated a massive error message. Guess they don’t like BAD REPORTS!!!
Unlocator. worst service ever. It doesn’t work and no refund even if it is due (14 days money back policy)
Was initially good, then could not access Amazon Prime – Unlocator kept saying we are working on it – 3 months later they are still working on it. Why not just admit they do not have a solution? Then channel 5 no longer accessible. Poor communication, cannot get hold of anyone unless via email and then they say they are working on it – sorry, unless you resolve in the next 3 days you have lost another customer!
